The Beehive

If you read the Guardian or the Daily Telegraph or if you travel with Rough Guides or watch TV ads then you probably know several of this extraordinary band. Tim Dowling (banjo) writes a very popular & totally hilarious, weekly column in the Guardian’s Saturday supplement while the other Tim (Jepson mandolin) is a former Telegraph travel columnist with several Rough Guides to his credit and affable and entirely eccentric frontman James Studholme runs one of the country’s leading film production co’s and produced that wonderful John Lewis Christmas ad. Together, this group of London media friends got together out of a joint love of American music.

Police Dog Hogan, first formed in 2009, has evolved over the years into a tight-knit eight-piece band combining guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, accordion, trumpet, keyboards, bass and drums to create an exuberant fusing of country, pop, folk and rocking bluegrass.

The band regularly plays to sell-out audiences up and down the country. After more than 300 live shows they’ve become a serious and ambitious musical venture that marries a devotion to touring and the presentation of consummate live performances with an utter dedication to song writing and recording.

“One of our favourite new bands” The Telegraph

“Wonderful!” BBC Radio 2

“Police Dog Hogan were good – actually, they were excellent.” The Sunday Times

“One of my bands to watch – great songs, great musicians, and their live shows are really, really good fun.” DJ Johnnie Walker
